Multiple Sclerosis: New Perspectives on the Patient Journey – 2019 Update

Hosted by Biogen
11:30am – 12:30pm / Room: 15AB

Biogen has joined together with Milliman, Inc., a well-known source of actuarial expertise for the healthcare industry, to develop a white paper titled Multiple Sclerosis: New Perspectives on the Patient Journey – 2019 Update, which presents the findings of a commercial claims analysis of more than 10 years’ duration (2006 to 2017). This analysis is the update to a white paper about the multiple sclerosis (MS) patient journey, released in 2016.

Key topics of the discussion will include:
• Prevalence and incidence of MS
• Use of disease-modifying therapies (DMTs)-including use vs nonuse, adherence, and switching (joint decision by patient and HCP due to the heterogeneity of MS)
• Clinical course of MS, including relapses and indicators of disability and neurologic impairment
• Potential cost implications of treatment inclusive of DMT and non-DMT costs

This study was conducted by Milliman, Inc., and commissioned by Biogen, Inc., February 2019.
